Initially I was rather confused and had indeed thought they were selling encrypted messages to police/government for SNDL (store now decrypt later) purposes. Though regardless, them so adamantly supporting the very organizations who want to destroy them is never a good look, especially when a lot of people run to encrypted messaging as an escape from government censor to begin with.
