I wonder how much of an impact this will have - Musk will effectively still have his front and back seat, with both his roles as CTO and executive chairman.

- smt88 3y agoIt has been incredibly helpful at Musk's other companies for him to pay attention to something else and have an actual qualified/competent person in charge day-to-day. Perhaps hiring a new CEO is an indication that his interest in (poorly) micromanaging Twitter is waning.
- BulgarianIdiot 3y agoHis interest in taking the blame that Twitter is still losing about 10 million USD every day of its existence, is indeed rapidly waning, you might say. He's interesting a CEO to attract ad revenue, and take the blame if they fail. And they'll fail because the gap is too big at this point.
- smt88 3y ago> And they'll fail because the gap is too big at this point. I loathe Musk and Twitter, but I actually don't agree with this prediction. If he's hiring Yaccarino, it's going to give advertisers an excuse to get back on Twitter. I don't think they genuinely care about the politics or whatever, but the optics are bad for them. The optics will get much better once Twitter is run by someone who understands how PR works.
- BulgarianIdiot 3y ago"An excuse to go back to Twitter" as if they're looking for excuse because they want to be on Twitter so much. Dude, you have no idea. Recession is coming, Twitter is unstable and overrun by trolls. Big brands don't care about Twitter, they just don't want to be target of Elon's ire and his cohort of fans. The only direction large advertisers will be moving with regards to Twitter from now on... is away. But you'll probably see plenty of "follow my account for feet pics" ads and so on smaller advertisers pick up the slack. Hey maybe that's an undiscovered gold mine.
