EU still set to OK Microsoft's Activision slurp, UK disagrees
- rektide 3y agoA weirder possible instance here of... What's the word for it even? There's 195 nations and one nation making a random law of decision can prod everyone. It's both unrelated but adjacent that The Declaration of Independence of Cyberspace kind of highlights the insubstantiality of this paradigm of respecting all regimes. It's just not always going to work. I wasnt existing this twist on MS/Activision, that we might just ignore a sovereign power, and I'm not sure I disagree with the power on this one, but I think these tensions of trying to let all the laws happen is a shit show, is broken, is trash, and this is a potential low-key but interesting early-indicator.
