ChatGPT Predicts the Breakthroughs of the Century
- belter 3y ago2028: The world's first self-sustaining fusion reactor is completed. Could not be hallucinating more... Like somebody said, the secret to predict the future and be a respected spiritualist, and well known clairvoyant, is to make many predictions...like...lots of them...
- diginova 3y agoNot an expert on fusion reactors so possible that might not happen this near in the future. Possibly who knows? There might be a possible alternative by the time then. Right now there's only 1 design that has a positive gain. There might come more. reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fusion_power#:~:text=Research%20into%20fusion%20reactors%20began,more%20power%20output%20than%20input https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fusion_power#:~:text=Research%....
- belter 3y agoNot a chance. That is 5 years from now. The only realistic projection, with the current knowledge is 2060 to 2070. For the first demonstration. Add then 40 years to build the first commercial facilities, assuming it's even profitable with the technology used at that time...Many would say the example you provided, and taking into account the lab where is coming from, is more about justifying keeping a nuclear weapons facility relevant. https://fusionforenergy.europa.eu/iter/ https://fusionforenergy.europa.eu/iter/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITER https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITER https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEMOnstration_Power_Plant https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEMOnstration_Power_Plant
- diginova 3y agoAlso I agree with the quote. But I also believe what we predict/expect never happens. So in some ways we can never run out of the possibilities of future however much we predict
