Roughly twice as much D2 is needed to achieve the same blood serum levels compared to D3

- more_corn 3y ago45,000 IU is quite a lot though. I think the highest supplement of D3 you can buy is 10,000 IU. There’s also a question about if D3 protects against heart disease (saw the article on pubmed) don’t have it handy. The different D vitamins might behave differently. The key insight is you can get vitamin d from sun dried mushrooms. I would not have expected that.
