India calls for all mobile phones to include FM radios
- vivegi 3y agoThe early 2000s era Nokia feature phones that were extremely popular in India had an FM tuner. It was a killer feature and I have seen people young and old playing the radio on their phone with the speakerphone turned on. Others might have their earphones plugged in. It kinda captures the zeitgiest of the time just as boombox toting youth in the 80s or early 90s or the Sony Walkman generation would do for the earlier periods. It is a shame that the arrival of smartphones made that feature disappear from mobile devices.
- dokem 3y agoDidn't one of the old iPhones or iPods have a FM receiver that used the headphones as an antenna?
- JCBird1012 3y agoSure did - I think it was the iPod Nano 5th generation onward? https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/46843/does-the-ipod-nano-6g-use-the-headphones-as-an-antenna https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/46843/does-the-ipo...
- porkbeer 3y agoMost phone radios can do this, but lack the software.
