I understand very little about earthquakes, tectonics, etc. Indeed, straining fault lines is probably asking for trouble. But conversely, would not drilling pipes, building dams, flooding large regions somehow improve (long term) safety? Ie. reduce severity / frequency / risk of earthquakes? Do we know or have theories?
