The relationship between Bard and PaLM 2 is pretty confusing. Bard itself gives inconsistent answers about that [1]. And Google claims that
> PaLM 2 was trained on a corpus that features over 100 languages, making it, in Google’s words, “excel at multilingual tasks,”
whereas Bard can only speak 3 languages [2].
ChatGPT's skills in my language (Tamil) are lackluster, and I was looking forward to being impressed by Bard "excelling at multilingual tasks". That would have been one place where ChatGPT doesn't set the bar too high, a chance for an easy win for Bard.
