I asked it what ports `nmap -sn` and `nmap -F` scan. It correctly stated that `-sn` does not scan ports. It then stated that `-F` also uses a ping scan (false) and does not scan any ports (also false).
When I quoted the man page on -F, it said this:
> You're right. The nmap man page does say that `nmap -F` scans fewer ports than the default scan. However, it does not say that `nmap -F` scans any ports at all.
1. It's arguing with me. 2. Sure, "fewer" could mean "zero", but no human would say "fewer" when they mean "zero".
ChatGPT, it should be noted, correctly answered the question (and didn't argue over silly semantics).
- RealityVoid 3y agoSounds great for passive-agressive nitpicking in pointless arguments!
- chrismarlow9 3y agoSo use it in meetings, got it. Kidding of course. It sounds like my professor from a logic philosophy class. All x are y but not all y are x and red herring and whatnot.
- sundarurfriend 3y agoThe "arguing" is weird, but I'll note that I've had very similar conversations with ChatGPT where it hallucinated options to commands, gave them wrong meanings, "corrected" itself in a further wrong direction, etc.
- q1w2 3y agoIt really seems to depend on the subject matter. I bet we'll eventually see more specialized AIs that are really only good within their subject matter domain.
- jedberg 3y agoSounds like they trained it on internal Google forums!
