Google Workspace Personal/Workspace Split Didn't Happen – Any Advice?
I've setup a few dozen clients with Google Workspace. Typically if you move email to Google and the customer already has a "free" Google account using their branded email, Google will "split" the account into two: Personal and Workspace
This for some reason didn't happen, and now my client has lost access to the accounts they managed with the "personal" version of their branded email.
Any advice? Workspace support didn't help much and sent me to other support departments for specific products. However this is a Workspace issue.
- tikkun 3y agoAs in, they had theirdomain.com, and they had a google account with name@theirdomain.com, and now they've set up Google Workspace for theirdomain.com but they can't access the old email inbox of name@theirdomain.com? Is that what you mean, or do you mean something else by a free Google account using branded email / personal version of branded email.
- gtirloni 3y agoI incurred in that mistake once and never again will I use a non-Gmail address for personal Google products. That exact same thing happened to me >10 years ago and I got cut off from almost everything I had. Today I find it annoying to have two address (domain.com and gmail.com) but such is life. Never mix them. EDIT: As for support, this is Google. So.. this thread is your best option.
