Ask HN: How can I send mail to a 50k+ emailing list?
I have about a dozen email lists hosted virtually ,each has about 50K emails. I formulate newsletters in Outlook in HTML and then send them out to each list. The lists are hosted by a company using Mailman 2.0 software, which I can use to subtract unsubscribes and also add new lists. I email of course legally in compliance with the Can Spam Act. I need to find another company to supply this hosting service and I can use a different software. They are not opt-in lists.
Is there any custom setup or even paid third party service that I can use for this? How would I set it up?
- bombcar 3y ago> They are not opt-in lists. What exactly does this mean? Anyway, all the big mailing companies (spamgrid, hubspam, etc) offer the ability to "lie and import" a list of contacts where you swear on your ancestors that you have permission to send to them.
- chirau 3y agoDoes SendGrid support sending to a 50k list?
- bombcar 3y agoTechnically (or at least the way I use it) sendgrid just imitates an SMTP server and does the needful internally. Hubspot certainly supports lists in the 50k, but it costs per subscriber. If you want an actual mailing list type thing, maybe a listserv? https://www.lsoft.com/products/maestro_license.asp https://www.lsoft.com/products/maestro_license.asp
- yuppie_scum 3y agoHow can you legally email to a list of people who haven’t opted in? Are you talking about transactional emails? (Receipts, etc?) or is this code for “I’m a spammer.” Anyway.. sendgrid, AWS SES are good places to start.
- chirau 3y agoTransactional. Monthly statements.
