Hi! I just stumbled upon this and was very surprised by his comments on the amount of waste heat - 100% waste of energy for residential and commercial use, 70% for industry and 75% for transport.
I'm not a climate scientist and would love for someone to comment on his comments on greenhouse gas - I don't know what I think of that, he's pretty scathing.
And please notice there was a correction and an update to the paper.
Edit: Waste heat is two orders of magnitude less energy than the energy retained by Greenhouse gases - while it is a cause of warming, it's less than 1%!
- PaulHoule 3y agoWaste heat is a problem in urban areas https://climatemodeling.science.energy.gov/research-highlights/waste-heat-urban-environments-enhances-extreme-heat-risk https://climatemodeling.science.energy.gov/research-highligh... but not so much a global problem. That paper is off base in so many ways, for instance a tiny concentration of CO2 really can hold back a lot of infrared because light is a wave and not a particle so it's not like this tiny photon has to make a direct hit on a CO2 molecule.
- dmbche 3y agoThank you - that makes a lot of sense, I figured something was wrong from the tone of his comments on greenhouse gases, but couldn't put my finger on it.
