I read through the article but am not sure what the disagreement is. It has something to do with shorter periods to write a show and shows not being syndicated but didn’t cover what writers would like.
Googling the topic is a slog and I struggle reading through articles that say that streaming is the reason [0] but not much of really why. It seems like streaming has shorter seasons and fewer writers but that’s because it does have shorter seasons and makes do with fewer writers. If I only have 10 episodes instead of 20 and have fewer writers then that means paying less writers because I don’t need as many. Writers get a minimum of $4500/week, but from these articles I guess they want a higher base weekly pay to make up for working fewer weeks per year.
Overall it’s surprising to me that writing isn’t all just freelance as I had assumed from reading about book and magazine and movie writers that it was all by the job and sort of freelance.
Mostly, this is just a complaint about it being hard to understand an issue when I hoped the internet would make it easier to understand everything. As always, it’s the users.
