TikTok tracked UK journalist via her cat's account
- jruohonen 3y agoGet out of social media, journalists. Who cares whether they are tracking geolocation, device fingerprints, and the rest that everyone else is tracking as well. Instead, journalists should understand that they're training ML models for face recognition, voice recognition, (pseudo-science) emotion recognition, and whatever recognition is hot at the moment. Some academics even call this "TikTok for good" and then scrape people's videos without their consent: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9857329 https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9857329
