It was clearly intended as a joke. And why would it be any less relevant today than 30 years ago?
- lapcat 3y ago30 years ago, tech wasn't the money-making machine that it is today, so the pure greed motivation wasn't as prevalent among CS students back in the day. Moreover, tech and finance have virtually wedded today, as witnessed for example by cryptocurrency, as well as by countless startups that make no profit indefinitely but somehow continue to exist by financing only.
