If you didn't work, how would you pay your property taxes?
- kubb 3y ago3 acres of land in the US cost $15K on average. A property tax with a 1% rate is $150 per year. You could earn that by selling 20kg of tomatoes. You should be able to grow a tonne in the right soil with the right climate. Of course in the permaculture you'd try to plant various species, but you should be able to earn $150 by selling them.
- eikenberry 3y agoI guess I'm to used to city life with 10K+ property taxes to consider that it could be so low. So yeah.. that wouldn't be much of an issue.
- justrealist 3y agoIf you're really just trying to cover property tax, set aside half your acreage and let a nearby farmer harvest hay. On reasonably productive land, splitting the cash will cover taxes.
- throwawaaarrgh 3y agoSell books on permaculture...
- FooBarBizBazz 3y agoBuy enough bonds that you can pay taxes with the coupon? Or dividend stocks? Factor this into the total cost of the property? Also include realistic depreciation in your accounting.
