My Nest camera is pretty hilariously bad as well. It literally just watches my mailbox and the path to it, and 90% of the time, my mailman is able to sneak past it without setting off the motion detection. They're literally in frame and just walking for 10-20s but that's not enough to register as motion even on the highest sensitivity.
The Ring with a similar vantage point detects it every time.
- rantee 3y agoI've heard similar stories from others. My Nest doorbell has issues, too, unless someone is right on the porch. I'm ready to get cameras but waiting for the next Prime Day when I can probably pick up two Rings for the price of one Nest cam (and maybe even a previous gen doorbell?). The multi-app thing, as most others have noted, is also infuriating and pathetic at this point. Not OK, Google.
