Because collectively, as a society, for a long, long time and a long time ago too, we've thought that they should profit off that work; and, in general, the consensus is that they should.
- amrocha 3y agoThat's not really a reason, and it's not even true. Some people a long time ago decided that. "We" didn't decide that, and certainly not collectively. I don't think the popular consensus is that copyright is good either.
