We had those in the USA as well. If you kicked the pole hard enough you could make it go out for a few minutes. the light they produced was the best and I wish we still used them, or at least an LED that mimics the orange color.

Yellow LEDs emit light at 585 nm, which is very close to low pressure sodium lights at 589 nm.
