Return to office could make you fat, lead to drinking problem: study

- mrwnmonm 3y agoAnother new study shows that not reading other studies is good for your health.
- mrwnmonm 3y agoJust living increases the risk of death.
- htss2013 3y agoThis is one of those causation vs correlation 101 things. Who lives within 2 miles of their workplace? Typically either young active people, rich people, or single types who would prefer a small place with a city lifestyle. Who has the longest commutes? Poor people, older people with children who need bigger places, or people who for whatever reason don't like being near the hustle and bustle of the cities. Big surprise, lots of confounding variables in these two very different self selected groups. Turns out older/poorer people with lots of obligations tend to have sleep problems.
- mrwnmonm 3y agoEveryone who I know who has died has eaten food. Every single one of them. Coincidence?
- brailsafe 3y agoIt depends on the city and the person and the job who has the longest commutes. My friends all live pretty close by on the edge of where city becomes more suburban, but along the train line, and in most cases share and apartment with someone and we're all between late-twenties and almost 40. Almost nobody commutes into the downtown anymore though, they're commuting by various means to either a fixed workplace in another area, or disparate workplaces wherever the job is that day. But their home base is where people are. The poorest people are on the street or in an old place, or a roommate situation.
- nerdchum 3y agoI always lose weight in between jobs. I guess moving around all day instead of sitting at a desk is good for weight loss. Imagine that.
- vuln 3y agoCould also be stress, anxiety, and depression to name a few
- sn_master 3y agoWhat a joke. Working from home made this happen to countless people already, specially those living alone in the first place and absolutely nobody seemed to care. People started drinking "because they can't smell mu breath" over Zoom. Humans are social creatures and not all of us have a steady social routine outside of work.
- brailsafe 3y agoIs NYPost not a deliberately satirical paper?
- uptownfunk 3y agoI believe it, especially for intense stressful jobs. Honestly you could probably convince me that RTO is better for the company. Hence why they are mandating it But it’s not better for me. Ultimately it will lead to a “class like” shift Those that have no other choice will have to RTO. Those that do will likely do either but have more flexibility to stay at home.
- NoZZz 3y agoI must say I vehemently agree, never have I been more stressed and fat than when doing a 2h+ commute. It's detrimental to productivity and health!
