- jvanderbot 3y ago100 percent. I read deepness before fire, and was terribly disappointed by the latter, even though it was a perfectly great book - just didn't measure up.
- deevus 3y agoI think reading Fire before Deepness was a good choice for me personally. I loved absolutely loved the Tines race and the stories of that world.
- johnchristopher 3y agoIs is just geeky or is there a deeper story ? I enjoy Ted Chiang, Robert C. Wilson, for instance.
- comicjk 3y agoThere is a deeper story. The realistic technical details are the bones; the flesh is the relationships between two human civilizations and a less-advanced alien race that doesn't know humans exist.
