Show HN: Pixelfy – Generate pixel art with AI (Open-source)
Hey Hacker News, thought I'd share an open-source tool I recently released for generating pixel art with AI.
All models are trained on royalty free / CC0 datasets /w permission from the owners! Let me know if you have any feedback.
Eager to see what you create! Feel free to tag me on twitter @dparksdev if you create something cool.
- Klonoar 3y agoThe testimonials section is weird to me - I don't know who these people are or why their testimonial is valid. It looks entirely like AI power users and the founder of the API you're using under the hood. Have you had any actual pixel artists comment on this or use it? I'd value their opinion more since they've been in the trenches. As it stands it just feels very network-backpat'ing.
- davidtparks 3y agoThat's fair. The featured testimonial is from Emmanuel who is the founder of scenario.com who is well versed in AI game asset generation. But I can see why the other ones might be confusing. Appreciate your feedback, will probably want to add what company some of them are associated with, and find some more pixel artists to comment on their experience.
- boredemployee 3y agoGiven that many startup founders or newcomers to the business/product world need to somehow market their products and use what's at hand, your comment is pretty weird. I wonder if wouldn't be better to test the product yourself and give a feedback?

I want to know what artists think, not the founders close friends. >I wonder if wouldn't be better to test the product yourself and give a feedback? You have absolutely zero clue whether I did or not. :)
- boredemployee 3y agoWell, it seems like you've already given shameless feedback that does nothing to help the product's reputation. In the real world, where not everyone has access to investment and the privilege of having a network of valuable contacts, something people deliberately do is ask friends and acquaintances for help to leverage your own product.
- Klonoar 3y agoYou do not get to confer "shameless" onto my comment when I'm pointing out something that the author responded and agreed with. Furthermore, I've run a few companies in my time. I'm no stranger to this. Knock it off with the bad attempt at the condescending attitude.
