- cushpush 4y agoan authenticity checkmark for email? simple yet effective. wow it took us way too long to arrive at this answer (laugh+cry)
- jimmaswell 4y agoDoes gmail not already reject mail without valid SPF/DKIM?
- hedora 4y agoThese stories about gmail fixing problems I haven’t had for 20 years are starting to remind me of the days when n00bz would install dozens of browser toolbars on their Win 95 machines.

- brightball 4y agoPayPal did a lot of research on trust indicators and determined they make no difference since you’re still going to trust plenty of mail without them. But if the BIMI carrot gets people to properly adopt DMARC I’m all for it.
- galaxyLogic 3y ago> you’re still going to trust plenty of mail Maybe. But maybe people have by now learned that there is lots of junk mail not worth opening. I personally don't answer the phone any more unless the caller is on my contacts list. I do the same for email, although some of them I read. But with this new feature I would have a clear rule, don't even open it unless it comes from verified address. This new feature would mean I have 3 types of incoming emails: 1. Mail from people in my contacts list 2. Mail from people who are not in my contacts-list but who are verified by Google. 3. Everything else, is junk
- canadaduane 4y agoI can't stand how laptopmag.com hijacks the back button to show you more articles that you must certainly want to read, aside from the one you came for.
- stubish 4y agoDoes this matter if Apple and Microsoft are not both onboard?

- wkat4242 4y agoAnd at the same time Google started inserting ads into users email lists so no, it doesn't change everything. The user still gets spammed only now it's Google getting paid for it.
- vba616 4y agoOn the topic of "don't be evil"... My Android phone is marking automated calls about my union's town hall meetings as "suspected spam". Now, I do acknowledge real people who belong to the union are almost certainly reporting them as spam, and there's no way to convince all of them they are wrong. Or, of course, people who are not current members could be PO'ed about getting calls. And it is also true that I don't bother to attend these town halls myself. But even considering all that, I got kind of upset that I couldn't find a way to vote for the calls not being spam. Searching the internet produced a tentative verdict that you can't mark a call deemed possibly spam as non spam, only a call Google says is definitely spam. Maybe adding the number to my address book would be a practical solution, but I'm not sure if the number stays the same or if caller ID is blocked sometimes. I thought about contacting Pro Publica or someone, but apathy and futility won the day.
- schmookeeg 4y agoAre you answering the calls? I could swear I've been given the option to report "not spam" after answering a call from a coworker that was somehow warning me of potential spam. Like I think the option was after I hung up. I can't even be confident in this on my pixel 6a, the sands of android features/ui seem to be ever-shifting. :) but this rang a bell and I thiiiiiink the above happened to me last month.
- nicenewtemp84 4y agoGmail marks emails from certain political parties as spam, even though they are smart enough to know it's not real spam I suspect.
