A Note from Ray Kurzweil on the Recent Call to Pause Work on Powerful AI
- ggm 3y agoPretty much got the "whatever he says, invert it" with Kurzeweil. He wants to go gangbusters? Good reason to call a halt. The guy is a serial self publicist. He's Malcolm Gladwell with less journalism chops. "We might lose the race" excuse me, people are trying to science here. It's not a race, except a race to the bottom. The problems here are regulatory, and sorting fact from fiction. Kurzeweil is strong on the fiction end where the singularity is(nt) and weak on the fact side, which is misplaced optimism, misplaced trust in highly misleading outcomes. About as unintelligent as its possible to be.
