VHS player modified as HIFI audio deck
- PaulHoule 3y agoLately I bought a VHS deck for about $15. I can buy tapes for 50 cents so I can overlook the quality gap with DVD, Blu-Ray, streaming and such. Turns out Hi-Fi VHS has very good sound quality. So far as obsolete formats go, quality gear and content are cheap and easy to find on VHS. (I never see a compact cassette deck with a single transport at the place i get my VHS tapes at and if i did find a good deck it would probably need a lot of work. Sometimes somebody there sees a record player and yells excitedly “It’s a Crosley!” and I just roll my eyes.)
