I have used Gmails paid offering since it was available and have not had ads outside of the spam emails I make outside of the premium experience. Recently I swapped to Fastmail. There is no actual comparison. It's so much better for my usecase (including the spam mail aliases that don't reveal my domain but do go to one inbox) that I regret not doing it sooner. Disclaimer: I hate Google.
