Every time I hear about Nintendo doing something I'm reminded of a thing a friend said "Nobody hates Nintendo more than Nintendo fans"

The saying is the other way around, isn't it? "Nobody hates Nintendo fans more than Nintendo"

Nintendo loves consumer fans. Nintendo hates technically knowledgeable fans.

Being technically knowledgeable doesn't compel you to publish things that undermine their business.

Indeed. You can't publish a tool designed to defeat copyright protection any more than you can publish the copyrighted material itself. Hence the dmca takedown request.
