CNN had to pay an undisclosed amount to that "Smiling MAGA Kid" after he sued them for libel, seeking $800m.
- tedunangst 3y agoMy default assumption is that any undisclosed libel settlement is usually for about $1.
- dabluecaboose 3y agoPithy remarks aside, the actual value has to be enough to convince the plaintiff to drop the case and low enough to convince the defendant that's it's cheaper than a trial. Like any true compromise, it's probably an amount that made both sides unhappy, so I'd estimate about half the requested 800m.
