Every state in the US is different, and different school districts and neighborhoods come with their own differences too. I have multiple friends who teach in public schools in the US, and I have some experience teaching, so I don’t think I’m really under any illusions about what it’s like. (One person I know became a middle school teacher at a public school and described it as “easy” compared to her previous job, which was informal education. There is a lot of variability in this profession.)
