God bye postman, Welcome DSL HTTP tests with T-Rext
Tired of dozens of postman tabs or karate test, I create a program able to perform http test using a natural language:

Who want to try automate all the http request to have free time?

- atomicnature 3y agoGood to see more people trying to contribute to the API DSL area. Personally, I am more in favour of full-fledged programming languages for testing APIs, while using these helper tools (postman, etc) for interactive API usage. Recently, I released Lama2 [1][2] with the tagline "Markdown for APIs". We've been using it frequently and it works wonderfully within our org. I've included many new enhancements such as multi-stage requests & VSCode plugin capabilities in the past few months. Do take a look, and share feedback if any :) [1] - https://hexmos.com/lama2/index.html https://hexmos.com/lama2/index.html [2] - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34206333 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34206333
- jrichardszz 3y agoI like to use java or nodejs to automate http tests. But I built this for my functional and testers coworkers because they don't know how to program. They have another skills. At the end I realized that dsl is faster than repetitive http calls and body parsers. Also if you check this https://gist.github.com/jrichardsz/8f2f8c0d25af7abc1e2f1d80ab3f0a81#file-t-rext-complex-feature https://gist.github.com/jrichardsz/8f2f8c0d25af7abc1e2f1d80a... in which with one minute run, I automated several http calls. I also generate a report like karate, cucumber, etc Nice tool bro, I will check it https://github.com/HexmosTech/Lama2 https://github.com/HexmosTech/Lama2 to get some ideas for my framework PD: Your install readme is similar to mine :b . Were you inspired by NVM? Thanks for share
- atomicnature 3y agoGot it. The way it works in Lama2 is, we have code generation capability. So people generally start with a DSL specification and when they want to convert to a full test, we generate code from the simpler specification (something like markdown -> HTML/PDF/etc?). Reports: these looks good, and useful Installer: Not sure the exact source; I've always preferred 1-click or 1-step installer systems as a user, so I think it's just "do unto other as you want done to you"
- 2rsf 3y agoWhat is the benefit over Karate? I haven't had the chance to use Karate extensively but it was rather user friendly. The problem is in the complex area itself, API testing is hard for non technical people and there is probably no efficient way around it.
- jrichardszz 3y agoYou got it: "API testing is hard for non technical people" That's why I created this new tool. To help the non-technical tester to automated using a natural language instead java or another options. To develop test with karate you need: - http experience - java & maven experience (pom.xml, etc) - and a lot of files: https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/3322836/236533517-440f4465-80c5-4241-9c6b-d5e0eb4f621c.png https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/3322836/236533517-... - run with java editor or maven With T-Rext - http experience - plain editor/ vs code - only the dsl with tests - a simple shell command Also Karate has a custom json parser implementation. In T-Rext I used the well known jsonpath: https://jsonpath.com https://jsonpath.com
