How does power output scale relative to reactor size? Is the size difference for "1/3 the output" significant?
- nine_k 3y agoThe bigger the reactor, the lower is the ratio of its surface to its volume, and the fewer neutrons escape without doing useful fission work. Smaller reactors produce more radioactive junk (irradiated steel and concrete) than bigger ones, per MW produced, AFAIK.
