SMRs seem to get announced quite often. I'd rather they just build one instead of announcing a new one.

This reactor seems similar in power and pricing to the GE-Hitachi BWRX-300. Getting regulatory approval to build is a very long process.

  They already have the AP1000 approved, this is not an entirely new design.

The US military is soliciting bids and all these companies are trying to win that process. Until they win they don’t really have a customer

This isn't a modular reactor (SMR). It is just a small reactor, with all the caveats of building such. Most notably, you just just get a couple delivered to a decommissioned coal plant and plug them in to meet your 2030 emissions targets, but instead have to deal with a multi-year project to build the thing.
