Cloud exit pays off in performance too
- ggm 3y agoHow much of this is RTT reduction from losing the cloud intermediaries? The deploy presumably still has Traefik or a moral equivalent in the middle so it still has some internalised redundency and sideways scaling. The "cost" here is also measured in the SLA which got shed. When the meteor strikes the Yosemite Dome and your backup turns out to have been in a dumpster you sold last week, then your risk management/insurance side may wish you could have pointed at a fat juicy contract. Insurance is cost/benefit stuff. (I knew a legal who worked in this space and if the contract is worded right, real money changes hands when things go down. Banks and Telcos pay more for service delivery both because they lay that cost off on us, dear fellow-customers, and because it delivers shareholder value both sides)
