People are also rethinking China because of Putin's invasion. While China currently seems more rational and competent than Russia under Putin, the invasion made major authoritarian leaders in general look worse by association.
- etempleton 4y agoYes, the PRCs escalation of rhetoric surrounding Taiwan and actions to silence and shutdown internal critics such as Jack Ma have to be viewed now as steps towards further action. We have to take China at their word that they will take Taiwan by force if required.
- snehk 4y agoPeople are rethinking China because the US is closer than ever to being #2 economically and that's somehow unacceptable.
- etempleton 4y agoI think that is part of it, but make no mistake, China's rhetoric and actions have become more aggressive over the last decade.
