US shipyards can't build destroyers fast enough
- not_enoch_wise 4y agoWe need more cannon fodder for chinese anti-ship missile boats!
- BestGuess 4y ago"But everybody’s struggling with skilled labor." Oh look it's the boomer motto again. >Am I out of touch? No, it's the kids who are wrong.
- superchroma 4y agoI'm sure if you handed the money to Austal or a similar shipbuilder with a yard in the US they'd figure it out.

- RecycledEle 4y agoSomewhere someone is laughing in Chinese.
- bsder 4y ago> everybody’s struggling with skilled labor Translation: We're not willing to pay enough to offset the fact that we will pull your budget sometime within the next 5 years, lay you off and hang you out to dry. The government outsourced everything so now they can't force anybody to do anything they aren't willing to pay through the nose for. Whoops.
- hilbert42 4y ago"...government outsourced everything..." Exactly—and with no forethought given to national security, maintenance of shipbuilding infrastructure not to mention keeping skilled trades in place. A comparison of stats between current shipbuilding capacity and that of its WWII 'Liberty' counterpart would make interesting [perhaps frightening?] reading.
- DimitriPetrova 4y agoIt's a capacity issue. The companies need to build the infrastructure to support the higher orders.
