Bob Lee consumed alcohol, cocaine and ketamine before he was killed
- keeganpoppen 3y agoman, it makes me sooo uncomfortable to read the defense attorney shitting on this guy because he had taken some coke, and tested positive for having had taken ketamine at some point... yeah, "that's how it works", but it just feels different when it's talking about the dead, who can no longer speak for themselves, rather than someone still among the living. sure, the odds he did something untoward are probably slightly higher in the Bayesian sense than the baseline, but come on, this is such crap: "What happens when people take drugs? Generally, they act like drug people, and what drug people act like is not themselves, not happy-go-lucky...". an insult to anyone who has popped any amount of party drugs, and an insult to the intelligence of everyone. blegh. and "Bob Lee's system is like the Walgreens of recreational drugs"... that is such bullshit. i guess being a defense attorney is not for me.
- listenallyall 3y agoA defendant is entitled to a vigorous defense. Lee's drug use, on its own, is likely not enough to warrant a not guilty verdict. But it's unlikely that's the end of it, the defense will likely claim there was an altercation, probably initiated by a drunk, wasted, coked-up Lee, and that lends credence. I mean, without knowing any facts about this case whatsoever, is it more likely a guy was literally stabbed by a stranger, entirely unprovoked, or that there was some kind of interaction prior? Again, I know absolutely nothing about this case, but the latter seems more likely.
- TurkishPoptart 3y ago>"There’s a lot of drugs in Bob Lee's system. I mean, Bob Lee's system is like the Walgreens of recreational drugs," Canny said outside the Hall of Justice in San Francisco on Tuesday, following a pre-trial hearing. This is disgusting, offensive, and seems to be a hit piece against Bob to deflect from the cesspit of depravity that SF has become. In the eyes of Sinclair-owned media, when homeless people do drugs, they're "self-medicating", but if a wealthy CEO does them, they "make bad decisions and do bad things". It doesn't even specify if Mr. Lee was intoxicated during his assault, or if these were metabolites from one or two weeks ago. IMO they are trying to associate Mr. Lee's weekend partying with getting stabbed 3 times in the chest by a stranger.

No, its an attempt to use the victim’s drug use to suggest that his bad behavior led to his death to raise an alternative to it being criminal action by the defendant (or, at least, to raise the possibility of it being a lesser degree of criminality.) The defense attorney is representing the accused, not doing PR for the City of San Francisco, and, has no interest in trying to diminish the image of the city as a “cesspit of depravity”. > IMO they are trying to associate Mr. Lee's weekend partying with getting stabbed 3 times in the chest by a stranger. Note that the “they" here is the stranger’s defense attorney, so, yeah, of course they are trying to paint anything but their client as potentially responsible for the outcome. That’s their job.
- quantified 3y agoWhat do you mean by "stranger"?
