it's interesting how the biggest defenders of "democracy" always have a problem when democracy is used to implement something they dont like.
- dragonwriter 3y agoYes, its always surprising that the set of people thar believe that the populace at large should have control of policy overlaps with the set that have strong opinions about the content of policy. I mean, except that that’s really not even a little bit surprising. (Neither, really, is the fact—which seems more relevant here—that people raised in the context where liberal democracy is idealized often have trouble separating out the “liberal” and “democratic” elements of that system, and frequently confuse the construct as “democracy” and view democratic illiberalism as “undemocratic”.)
