Plan 9 – introduction to library functions
- keeganpoppen 3y agoit just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling how clearly all of this is written. the kind of thing they could just dump on you in an Operating Systems class and you actually feel like you'd have a chance of implementing it on your own.
- lagniappe 3y agoIt's always a pleasant surprise to see Plan9 getting some love :) If you're into plan9, and miss the old 9menu, I'd like to present 8menu! It's written in Go, and uses Fyne for the GUI. It lets you make simple button<-> action toolbars on the fly - https://github.com/donuts-are-good/8menu https://github.com/donuts-are-good/8menu
- ori_b 3y agoI don't think plan 9 ever shipped with something like that. At least, my plan 9 systems don't have it: cpu% 9menu /fd/0:18: 9menu: './9menu' directory entry not found cpu% menu /fd/0:19: menu: './menu' directory entry not found There's bar(1), http://man.9front.org/1/bar http://man.9front.org/1/bar, but that was added in September 2022. Googling, it looks like you might be referring to the Linux/Unix utility https://github.com/arnoldrobbins/9menu https://github.com/arnoldrobbins/9menu.
