We should just bury plastic in a nearby modern landfill.
Plastic comes from oil, and putting it back into the ground is probably one of the best things you can do with it from a CO2 point of view.
Spending fuel etc transporting it to be recycled is just a waste.
- denimnerd42 4y agoagreed. why are we washing and transporting plastic. just bury it and if it’s worth something later dig it up.
- fomine3 4y agoOr burn it until all thermal power plant must be shut down.
- dehrmann 4y agoConsumer plastic use isn't a big CO2 producer.
- jl6 4y agoThing is, nothing is a big CO2 producer on its own. It’s all small percentages and little bits of percentages. But there is so much going on in the world, that it adds up to a big problem.
- ClumsyPilot 4y agoNot really - transport is huge, heating is huge Platic is more of a pollution issue, not CO2 issue
- bushbaba 4y agoOr burn it for peak energy generation. Better than burning oil/natural-gas as this at least gets two uses from the oil 1) As packaging, 2) As peaker-plant energy source.
