Maybe this product would work better as a fake AI. Just as a matchmaking service for two lonely people. You could even lie to them and tell each that the other was an AI.
- clnq 3y agoReplika is specifically advertised as a chatbot that creates a safe space with no drama, stress, or judgement. Humans come with many more strings attached, especially lonely ones. Usually, there is a reason why they are socially unappealing - a fair reason or not, it exists. I remember trying Omegle/Chatroulette when it was popular, meeting a lot of lonely people, and it was just awkward.
- npteljes 3y agoDoesn't work, because the premise is asymmetric emotional energy. The AI only gives, and doesn't need anything in return (on an emotional level). People might have the genuine need for a relationship, but that doesn't mean that they can properly partake in one.
