I feel like Krita is the next best thing after Photoshop, however; the interface really doesn't sit right with me at all. It feels very counter intuitive and I struggle finding what I need. I also don't like that "windows" inside the "main window" isn't really a thing unless you use the software(?) renderer, and even then it's sub-par at best. Like, I want to have 4 or 5 images open and see them all at the same time.
- hallarempt 3y agoMDI subwindows work fine with canvas acceleration, though...
- Daunk 3y agoYeah seems like that works now. Showing content while dragging however still doesn't work.
- woolion 3y agoAs a counterpoint, some years ago I felt it was time to use "a real painting program" and switch to Photoshop. It felt so backwards, mostly in terms of interface, that I dropped the idea very fast. There are a few shortcuts that I change or find missing in Krita, but apart from that it felt like the painting experience was much more streamlined (which is my main concern, so I can't talk for other aspects).
- pzone 3y agoAdobe halted development of painting and illustration features in Photoshop a number of years ago. Their goal seems to be to get people to use Illustrator for illustrations and Fresco for painting.
