Blog is hosted on my Android phone
I have hosted this blog: https://androidblog.a.pinggy.io on my $180 Android phone using Pinggy (https://pinggy.io) and Termux (https://termux.dev).
Link to the Android phone hosted blog: http://androidblog.a.pinggy
In case the phone gives up here is a cloud hosted version: https://pinggy.io/blog/host_website_on_android/
EDIT:
Disclosure: Pinggy.io is developed by me.

- jaclaz 3y agoMaybe it should be disclosed that you are involved with the pinggy.io service : https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34337592 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34337592
- ghoshbishakh 3y agoThanks. Just included that in the post :)
- LinuxBender 3y agoAll the steps could be performed using a VPS node with a web server running on it. SSH port forwarding is doing the heavy lifting. What advantage is there to pinggy over a web server running on a VM or dedicated server?
- ghoshbishakh 3y agoServing a blog from a mobile phone is fun (to some of us). Advantage of pinggy (entering one command in the terminal) over first renting a VPS node followed by configuring a webserver there, followed by configuring the domain and firewalls, followed by the ssh port forwarding is simplicity. Pinggy is just a quick way of hosting and testing some services.
- LinuxBender 3y agoServing a blog from a mobile phone is fun (to some of us). I never suggested that it should not be done. What I am saying is that the Termux on the cell phone + SSH + port forwarding to a VPS node would work exactly the same way. It is not clear to me that any steps are being saved by pinggy. Or are you saying that pinggy will always allow for free web hosting with ssh access? If so I think people would like that.
- ghoshbishakh 3y agoAs I said, pinggy is an easier way to do it. If for some reason someone wants to make the android phone a permanent server, then yes Pinggy can provide persistent URLs. Not for free though - $2.5 per month. (Not sure if that is less or more than the VPS charges).
