I'm not so sure about the impact to Google Search marketshare. Anecdotally, I know at least one person that has moved to using Bing Chat as their primary search engine, and they are a prolific searcher. They showed me how their Bing Rewards counter has grown by about 700 points from searches alone in the last few weeks. This might be a bit misleading because each request to Sydney results in multiple Bing searches (though there are daily caps to Bing Rewards to compensate), but they say their time to answer has reduced and they are searching for more things with faster incremental refinement than ever before. I recently started paying for Kagi, and the results quality is fantastic even without chat-based search, so Google has both a core and emerging problem with Search.
