Apple has been years behind Alexa and Google Assistant but that hasn’t stopped Apple from having one record quarter after the other. It makes no sense for Apple to invest more in Siri. If Apple added ChatGPT-level voice assistant in iOS tomorrow, it would barely increase sales.
ChatGPT and Bing+ChatGPT integration have taken up so much of the news cycle but it has barely made a dent in Googles search market share or profits.

Anecdotally, I know at least one person that has moved to using Bing Chat as their primary search engine, and they are a prolific searcher. They showed me how their Bing Rewards counter has grown by about 700 points from searches alone in the last few weeks. This might be a bit misleading because each request to Sydney results in multiple Bing searches (though there are daily caps to Bing Rewards to compensate), but they say their time to answer has reduced and they are searching for more things with faster incremental refinement than ever before. I recently started paying for Kagi, and the results quality is fantastic even without chat-based search, so Google has both a core and emerging problem with Search.
