- 13of40 3y agoPlus one for this. It was easier to get people to mail me computer books from Europe than to buy them in 1990s rural Oregon.
- jerrysievert 3y agodon't worry, it was almost just as difficult in non-rural areas in Oregon as well at the time. eventually, there was one amiga dealership in clackamas, which is I guess one more than, say, bend had, but I still never managed to make it there before they eventually closed.
- OnlyMortal 3y agoIt was in the UK too. I mostly ended up disassembling demos and using ST books for source code - non-GEM - like “how to do vector graphics with pre-made sin/tan tables”
- jdswain 3y agoI used to get Byte magazine back then. The cover date was three months in the past by the time I got it. Before the internet the News section was still relevant even after three months. Some books I ordered took 6 months if they arrived at all. This was Invercargill, New Zealand in the 80's.
