A C64 in 1983 cost the equivalent of ~$900 today.
- jjk166 3y agoI don't think the mention of the C64 was with regards to its affordability at the time, but rather its computing power. If you find a 20 year old computer in a dumpster, yeah it may have been expensive back in the day, but its cheap as dirt now, and so long as you can get it to turn on it's still going to be perfectly adequate for hobby programming. Programming may have been an expensive hobby 40 years ago, but it's been cheap for a very long time now.
