After hearing decades of rent vs buy financial debates and arguments about equity, interest, etc, the strongest factor in my decision to buy has surprisingly turned out to be “90% of the landlord’s I’ve had have been either bad or terrible and I can’t deal with it anymore”.
- bombcar 4y agoIt's amazing, every other professional we hire we'd be absolutely flabbergasted if someone suggested we use someone who did it once a month, on the side, and wasn't trained or certified or anything. But that's exactly what most landlords are, unless you're renting an apartment from a massive company.

When I have an issue, it's resolved relatively quickly, noise mostly isn't a problem, and I can easily move to a new location with fairly limited hassle. Rent has perhaps increased more than I'd like at times, but no more than the market price would indicate it should.
