Using the Fibonacci buckets in a hash table fixes the "accidentally quadratic" behavior when resizing a hash table. There are other possible ways to fix this problem too, but this trick described here will work.
Using a better hash function with a better distribution is orthogonal to mapping hash values to buckets in the table.
