As someone who takes a pill daily that fixes my brain chemistry, I would like to clarify that it is simultaneously possible that many people are taking pills they don't need and many people are not talking pills they do need. I despise generalized statements like "xyz medication is over prescribed" because it is also in some ways probably underprescribed. I didn't seek treatment for a dibilitating illness for many years because I was repeatedly told that the medication was abused and all I needed were lifestyle changes. For me, the medication was underprescribed.
