  Except the supposed behavior alteration in women is increased social activity, attention to appearance, neatness, and aversion to the smell of cat urine.

    Average alteration. Given the article's suggestion that some people react differently to infection (as in the schizophrenia/immune-system discussion, and not just by gender), plus the similarity of cat ladies' behavior with infected rats in some dimensions, a link between this parasite and the 'cat lady' archetype is not an outlandish conjecture.
